With the funding of Swedish International Development Agency, United Nations Development Programme in Armenia has been implementing the "Strengthening Community Resilience through Energy Efficiency and Low-Emission Development" project in Alaverdi since 2022, which aims to increase the economic, environmental and social stability of the community by introducing the energy-efficient and low-emission development model.

The Project has several components, one of which is the educational. In 2022, the short-term educational program on "Installation, repair and maintenance of renewable energy power plants" was introduced in Alaverdu State Vocational College. 6 specialists have been trained and are successfully teaching the new subject. 21 participants were involved in 2 short-term courses, and a training of the third group will start soon. Taking into account the great interest and demand for the new profession, the Ministry of Education, Science,Culture and Sports has given permission to introduce this profession as a main subject in the College. There are all the necessary prerequisites for this - with the support of the Project, the  College has a well-equipped laboratory for organizing practical work together with theoretical teaching.

The Project started 2 years ago and is already recording its first great success.

On 14 February, Alaverdi State Vocational College and "EcoVill" company signed a memorandum of cooperation.

"Ecoville" company, with a memorandum, undertook to organize the educational practice of the students of the Alaverdi Vocational College,also proposing to hire the best students.

The representative of the company says that the sector is developing at a fast pace, therefore it is important to have qualified specialists in the Marzes as well.

The representatives of the sector note that currently the demand for specifically qualified professionals - installers of solar photovoltaic plants andwater heaters and especially service providers is very high.

The development of the sector is also important for Armenia from the point of view of reaching energy independence.
